just got a CRKT m16-12 with the Tanto blade. just wondered if anyone had removed the left hand thumb stud and how it was fastened on. the knife so far rocks but the thumb stud is already tearing up my pocket and of course has cought on my pocket and opened once. I had this happen twice before with a CRKT Navajo as well

I was reading another post and someone else had this experience with the left thumbstud on a right handed knife catching in the right pocket and opening (partly cause it's tip down too)

from now on I'm referring to tip down right handed dual thumbstuds as THE DEVILS WAVE. unlike the Emerson Wave which is the fastest way to get an open folder into your hand, THE DEVILS WAVE is the fastest way to get an open folder into your pocket and through your leg.

this is the last knife with THE DEVILS WAVE that I will ever buy

Don't take that stud off!!!

The M16 series has no stop pin, so the oversived thumbstuds serve as a blade stop. Removing one side may comprimise the lock strength.

Yeah when I went to remove the thumbstud I inspected the knife more closely and figured that out. fortunately I did before I took it off. I'm tryin to trade it now. I need to get a CQC7B with proper tip up carry

Trade it in for the CRKT Bladelock.
It does'nt have a left stud to worry about and it locks open and locks closed.
Tip-up carry too.

Good luck,
Allen.
