Just killing time... So how about Thursday 300's???

Any kind of 300's. Post em up.

Being as you started with those good looking yellow handles, I'll follow suit. Buck 302 & 303 from a later era, but still yellow. OH

Keeping with the yellow knives, here is a prototype 303 yellow sawcut Delrin knife from 1987. This knife has a brass spacer and two springs. When the production knives started in 1988, the spacer was eliminated and there were three springs. In addition, the positions of the two secondary blades were reversed from those of the prototype.

This seems to be yellow Thursday 300s day. Here is a 322 Congress from 1995. It was made for Buck by Camillus and sold only by SMKW.

My 308 , not sure what it is about this knife
but I like it a lot .

And another 300 that I like the 389 .

I don't have a single Buck slipjoint. After seeing this thread, I might have to change that.

You guys are getting some good knives. Scale rivets make this 311 extra special. First of its kind. 300

This is just my opinion, but I think if Buck would offer a few more scale options in the USA 300 series , they wouldn't be able to keep the stores stocked with them. Bone would be nice, but even if they just did say a 303/301 in the standard black sawcut(have to offer the classic black) and then offer a yellow like the one above and some red sawcuts like they did at one time in the past, maybe a hunter orange, I think people would really try to buy at least one of each color. Bucks fit and finish on the 301/303 is pretty much flawless on the ones I have and they are priced right. Offer a few more colors, put them in the sporting goods department of most stores like the old Bucklites, I'm pretty sure they would sell well.

When I first got into Bucks 4 or 5 years ago the 300s were offered in 4 different handle options; black saw cut, chairman series with red dymondwood, yellow, and charcoal dymondwood. In 2013 the yellow and charcoal dymondwood were gone and replaced with the brass bolsters with cherry dymondwood. Those only lasted 2 years and so for 2015 we're down to the chairman series and black saw cut. I may be wrong, but I don't think the 300 series is that big of a seller for Buck. I personally have never seen one in a brick and mortar store. The good sporting goods stores that have a nice selection of US made Bucks carry the China made 300s. Even the collectors club exclusive 301 suffered from sluggish sales. I really like the 300s and carry a 303 daily, but slip joint pocket knives have a pretty small market these days and the China bucks pretty much fill it for buck. If the different handle options sold well, we would see more of them as Bucks production is driven by market demand.

Now back to the 300 pics!

They have done these from time to time. these were for Walmart a few years ago and they did some bone 300's for SMKW also.

What is the most popular finish in this Buck 302 pocket knife that is still made in Black and Rosewood Dymondwood finish?

Is one finish more durable than the other one?

It is a USA made knife.

I am considering this Buck knife for a gift.

I have not seen this in my stores, so far, but they do have it in stock at the Buck factory.

Thank you.
