Thursday again...Chat my place

I must have a memory block on Thursdays! If the fates smile on me, I will be able to remember for a few hours! ---Sandy---

Thanks for putting up with my questions yesterday. I've got two more that questions and figuered that it wasn't worth another another thread.

Flare ups happen when you are quenching in oil, goop, etc. My question is this: how bad are they? Super hot metal hits oil, which has a low flaring point, and it flares.
-Won't this heat up all of the oil enough to cause everything to go up in smoke?
-How big are the flare ups?

Thanks!

Use a bigger oil tank, and make a cover for the tank. The cover will keep dirt out of the tank when not in use and will quickly smother the fire if it catches.

Thanks guys, had a great time myself...

The flare ups in the oil arent that bad,but I make sure my hands and arma are not over the tank when I quench.the flames will go out as the metal cools also.Just keep anything that is to flammable out of the way when you quench..

Okay, here is what I've got so far:

-Don't keep the tank/pan too shallow
-Keep a lid
-It'll stink
-It'll flare
-Flares stop when it cools
-Don't have body parts directly over the tank
-1-2 foot flames
-Flamable stuff out of the way
-No big deal

Thanks guys!
