Headed out today with the trail camera to try and take some pictures of moose and deer.North of town there is a flatter area with a southwest exposure that attracts those animals in the winter.
I had set the camera last year on a trail but only managed to get black images as the moose passed to close to the camera.
When I arrived at that area the wind was blowing briskly from the north.Temparature was - 12c dont know the windchill but the wind was steady at around 15kn/hr.It was cold. With the north wind I could cut through some second growth on the way in .On the way out I could use another more exposed route but have the wind at my back.Nothing like a plan
Nice clear day

Snowshoe hares been feeding on whitepine needles, looks as if they are only eating the bases.Finicky eaters

The moose and deer where here but likely moved to midslope to escape the colder air in the valley bottom.
After a bit I ran across where a pair of wolves had travelled through.Always on the hunt them fellas.

As there wasnt any fresh deer or moose sign I decided to follow these tracks for a bit to see what I can learn about wolves Interesting to see how they will follow in the leaders footprints.Saves energy walking in an already broke out trail
Here they had separated and looks as the one behind was hurrying to catch up

Eventually they headed up through a narrow steeper bit of country.I had gone around 2 1/2 miles following.Notice the whitecaps on the lake

I headed back going a little different route, found a sunny spot out of the wind and had a mug up.
The back trail. The outgoing wolf tracks are to the right of the picture

Great Photos and BEAUTIFUL Dog

Please post more photos of both your landscape and Dog

Nope not Mt Baldy. This is north of Revelstoke( it does look like Baldy though)
The yellow thing is a sitting pad that I take.Bought it at Ikea for a buck.Use it to keep the posterior out of the snow and better than cutting boughs for the same purpose.
