Thuya Burl opinion for a 25-5 (it's here!)

Just wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on thuya burl handles that are on 25-5's from AGR. Thinking about picking one up but am concerned that this wood might be too soft for hard use and too brittle for use in cold winter. Any thoughts?

I haven't held one, but I can't imagine that RMK would put out a knife that won't stand up to use.

I have 2 Model 5's with thuya. One piece I supplied about 5 years ago and the other is shop supplied.
Neither knife is a user, but there is no signs of cracking or any other problems with either piece of wood.

My Model #12-9" (click here) was ordered in July 2001 and shipped to me in May 2004, so the thuya handle is well over 13 years old. So far, no splitting, cracking, or checking. Only change is that the (beautiful!) wood seems to have darkened just a bit over the years. This is more a 'safe queen' than a user, so I can't speak of what heavy use might have done to it.
