TI Coating?

Is there some kind of crappy coating that manufacturers put on their TI knives?

I have quite a few TI framelocks and I usually can't wait to scotchbrite the ones that I EDC.

My Titanium knives are either raw or anodized. The former scratch easily, the latter are quite scratch resistant. I much prefer the anodized knives.
