ti coloring question

i had a benchmade 42 latchless once that had been heat treated or something to that effect.the area at the latch and about three quarters of the length of the handles were a blue,yellow,orange in color.can you tell me how this was done.

I'd guess it was just heated with flame. There've been a couple of threads in The Balisong Forum in the last week or two, dealing with coloring Ti handles with a torch,
