That IS a GREAT looking knife!!! BUT, I do not care for the bronze/gold color at all, but that is just me.

I don't mind the colour at all. Nice looking knife, but I'm not sure what I think of the high grind at the tip. Maybe if I got a look at it straight on from the side I would like it better. It might just be the angle I am seeing it from.

it had been colored purple and then blue before i settled on bronze the blue was a little much
i ll try and get a side shot to show the grind a little better

how bout thoughts on options of dressing up the scales

well im not sure if i would want to do some anodize "painting"
i or add texture (don't want to look like Matts folders) using a ball endmill
BTW yes i like much of his work

On the scale that is also the lock, have you considered using more than one cut-away for bending so that the lockbar can retain more thickness at its thinnest point? It's not so much dressing as reducing the undressing on one side.

Beyond that, perhaps you could inlay some Harner Mycarta into the scales?

Butch, I am impressed. I LOVE the shape. Stay on this course.

I suggests some milling to break up the plain sides. Or none.. No coloring at all would be most refinishable.

Unless you are REALLY talented, please don't carve shapes, serpents, flames, et al, into this. Leave that for others. I really find that a fad rather than a long standing seller. There are other ways to dress it up.

I feel the same way about micarta with 'pimping' grooves hand carved at random. Yuck.

Nice base product. I like your style.

My philosophy is to keep it simple and leave all the artsy fartsy stuff to the guys that just have to have that. I see it as trendy and it sometimes makes it harder to move the knives. There are enough good pimpers out there to add some personal flare to the knives they buy if that is their fancy.

Of course its just my opinion but just adding something to maybe texture the grip is about as far as I go because I justify it by its functional aspect. If it looks great thats just a plus.

To me you have a real winner for a design there and one that would sure draw some interest. I'd give it a basic finish keeping it straight forward and easy to reproduce and sell it just like that personally.

The built in choil for choking up on the blade is a great feature, and the lock stabalizer is also although for me I'd have to have tip up carry so it would need to be changed there but otherwise its a real winner I would be proud to own myself. I think you need to give it a solid color and call it done. ;) It looks pretty great to me.

Oh yeah. If you don't have a bead blaster I'd say get one. I love the finish of titanium after blasting it personally and it makes anodizing it pretty easy also unless you just want the really bright bright colors. To me those are nice but you have some that come out in different shades sometimes and I've never liked that personally. The blasted finish gives the anodizing a nice uniform look to my eye and that helped a lot once I started using that.

so clean and simple but maybe with some smaller over lay on the non clip side

BTW dont look for me to be carving or engraving any time soon (ever) my hands just will not do that besides less done just right im not a fan of it ether

Yeah you know something thin. I have some .060 thickness G10 with texture on it that I got from Halpern Titanium that would be good overlay material Butch. If you want to try a small amount of it I'll cut off an end and ship it out to you just say the word. Its a green G10 with texture. Oh, and I almost forgot I have some textured orange also in that same thickness.

EDIT: I forgot I have black textured in that same thickness of .060 so they sent me some of three different ones that thin last order. I usually use the thicker stock but they threw in some extra last huge order I placed. Even got a box of Girl Scout peanut butter cookies last shipment. Now that you can't have.:D

agree

knice knife butch.. maybe some overlays would be nice. a bolster would be good to

str thanks for the offer but if i do over lays it will be of my mycarta

bolsters and what not will be for something i try soon :)

I think the gold, antique look is cool. Blade grind and slabs are balanced, aesthetically. For me, adding some type of overlay isn't necessary. :)

Well done !

I think that ROCKS!!! Great work....

The only embellishment I would suggest is either drilling three of four holes in the top slab a la Tom Mayo or if not that then some light dimpling on the top slab to give a better grip.

Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing! Oh, and the clip MUST be tip up, pleeeeze. :D
