The JK Ti Framelock is now available to order, with deliveries starting in June. I held off on offering it untill I was completely satisfied with the design, which I now am. The changes I made were minor, but I feel worth it. To start with, I made the horizontal cut for the lock higher on the frame, for more lock surface contacting the end of the blade. The next change I made, was to add another standoff near the rear of the handle, for more strength. I also added a ball detent, to hold the blade in place when closed. ( reminder to myself, get a tray to hold those 3/32" balls, so I`m not chasing them around the shop floor!). The last change I made, was to make a spacer for the thumbstud, to extend it out a little more for better thumb opening.

These can be made for right or left hand.

Specs:

4 1/2" closed
8" open (3 1/2" blade)
1/8" thick titanium handles
1/8" thick O1 blade
1/4" diameter stainless pivot and spacers
blade rides on a 3/8" diameter bronze bushing, which goes around the 1/4" stainless pivot, and a .032 bronze washer on each side of the blade.
Weight 4. 75 oz.

Pricing:

$250.00
$10.00 extra for pocket clip
$5.00 for shipping

This one I made for myself, (my daughter could not live without the original), so I went with a chisel ground blade, with a slight bevel on the other side.

If you look closely, you can see the .032 thick bronze washer on each side of the blade.

Here you can see the titanium pocket clip I made for it.

That is fantastic!!! I've been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out which folder that I "needed". I've found it. The clip looks great too.

Looks great John!. Definitely going to get one, hopefully in the summer time. I know you mentioned G10 can be on the other side, are you going to offer Micarta(or is that not strong enough)? Also, I think a deep style pocket clip would be a great option even though it'll be more $$. Probably about the same amount of Ti as a regular clip, but bended over. Kinda like Andy's Acies

Hi John -

Oh man - I'll bet your daughter sells a few of these for you just by using this in front of her fellow LEO's.

Outstanding work. I changed my avatar in honor of the new JK Ti Folder.

That baby looks like it would withstand just about anything that you could throw at a knife.

I am looking forward to production # 1.

Cool avatar! I`ll probably be starting yours next week, just so I can tease you with photos.

I thought I would show the fixtures I made to make these with the precision needed for it all to fit together properly.

From the top we have the fixture for filing the rear spacer, the bronze bushing, and the pivot pin to the correct lengths. The top plate is hardened, and before each use I paint it with Dykem die marker, to show if I am filing crooked.

Next is the fixture I made from a 3/8" nut and bolt for filing the lock side bronze washer to the correct diameter to clear the lock bar.

Next is the top plate for drilling the main holes, and cutting the lockbar, this is also hardened.

Last is the bottom plate for the holes and lock bar. This is also hardened.

I just thought that you may be interested in seeing these.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I`m extremely pleased with how this turned out. For those of you that were at the September Gathering at my shop, this is what I was hinting at when I said there was something new in the works. Only took 7 months! :o

Hi John -

I'll be looking forward to the teaser pictures!

Thanks for posting the picture of your work-tools for the folder - interesting to see how you are doing some of that work.

You will be seeing the teaser pictures next week. Today I did the holes and slot in the ti frame, and ground out the blade profile, drilled and tapped the thumbstud hole, and stamped the K on one side, and a 1 on the other. It`s all fitted, and works smoothly. I still need to grind out the cutouts on the handle, and heat treat the blade, but it will be done next week! The best thing is, I got the order for #2 today!!!

Hi John -

Excellent. I'll be ready for you when the frame-lock is done.

Let the teasing begin!

Hi John -

I can't wait to have this one arrive!

I'll be getting a 4-knife pass-around package this coming week or so as well, so I'll be taking lots of pictures to compare the new JK TI Frame-lock with some offerings from Kershaw / ZT.

I am particularly interested to see how you executed the ball-detent.

best regards -

Hey John
What Is the turn around time like for one of these bad boys? I'd be ready in June-August time frame. I have a project going that is eating up some of my "knife allowance"

I`ll start making more in June, if there is any orders for them.

I`m going to offer dual thumbstuds as an option, for an additional $10.00. They will be smooth, not knurled. I like mine so much, that I made one of mqqn`s photos my new avatar, as well as the homepage photo on my website. I`ve been carrying mine daily.
