I have a Ti handle knife I want to heat stripe, Can you guys give me any good tips on how I can do it myself?
Thanks :)

Do you have anything to practice on first? I'm no expert, but it's not that hard. Just hit it with a torch and watch it change colors. Practice would help you understand what steps the colors go through as they heat up. And remember that the handle will be hot, so do it before final assembly. :)

Hmm, like I said, I'm no expert. But the colors on Ti come from the heat building up an oxide on the surface. I don't think you want oil -- it will just burn and make a mess. The times I've done it, I've cleaned it first and then just hit it with the torch.

Anyone else use oil??

Sweet! Thanks for the input I think I just need to do some test runs like you said and see what happens.

WD40 works wonders :
