Hi folks,
I've been planning this for a while now, and finally got a chance to make the chips fly.
These are the prototypes for my first attempt at a folder, or any type of knife for that matter.
The frames are machined from one piece of Ti, and they are 3/8" X 1" X 2 1/2".
S30V is the blade material.
First I surface ground them to within .005 of finish thickness.
Next I wrote a program in MasterCam to do a 3D sweeping contour profile using a .125 diameter carbide ball mill. I manipulated the amount of step over, and across step in the program parameters to achieve the rippled/fluted effect on the blade. I was able to use the same program for the opposite side after turning on the mirror image function on the CNC control.
I don't know about you, but I'm digging them...
Thanks for looking,

Wow,
Tough crowd, I figured some one would have commented on this...Hmmm
Thanks for looking though,

That is a couple of interesting little knives.

I bet it's handy having the CNC, I only have an old school milling machine so things are a bit more labour intensive for me. :p

I appreciate the compliment...:)
Yes, having access to a Machining center is quite nice.
I've been a Machinist for over 20 years, and believe me I paid me dues on the manual equipment. Still do:D

The grooves remind me of my kershaw zing, and the overall design is neat, like a miniature big knife.

Yeah, I like the grooves they give it a little something extra...;)
As for the size, I wanted something easily pocketable.
I think it would be legal carry in most areas too.

I really like the looks of these little guys/gals. Very cool incorporating a thumb disc as well. Wouldn't mind carrying a little clip less Ti folder like these.

....off topic
That's cool what you did with the SG, does the lucite affect the tone?

Anyhow seems you are quite handy!

Those are pretty sweet looking. After owning a Zing and Groove though I'm not huge on stirations ( at the same time I do not hate them either , of course ).

I little hole on the first pic looks like you could attach it to a lanyard then a carabiner for easy access.

Those are definatly cool knives.

Hello all,
Firstly I know my WIP on these has been lacking here. I have Satellite Internet, and uploading pics eats up my allotted bandwidth rather quickly.
Here are a couple of pictures of several now finished "Nebulii" knives.
Just so you know the whole lot of 20 knives have been spoken for.
Thanks for looking,
