can the zytel scales be removed, or is the ti lite a pinned knife, and cant be taken apart? if it can be, are the screws torx or allens? thanks.

The web site shows a pretty clear photo of torx screws...

Torx.
Also, if it's legal in your area, look around on the web and check out the Ti Lite auto conversions.

I was changing the oil on my bike a couple of weeks ago, when my 6" Ti-Lite took a header off my work bench (where I put it for safe keeping, lol) into the pan of hot oil. At first I tried just wiping it down, but ended up taking it apart for a complete cleaning. A well made knife. Be aware on disassembly that the pivot and frame pins have a specific direction they need to be inserted in on reassembly.

Well isn't that interesting. It looks like CS put a ridge in the lock bar to stiffen it up, that's actually a pretty neat idea.
Those guys keep surprising me (though not always in a good way).

Yeah, the Ti Lite has a very robust liner lock.
Personally, I love mine (Ti version, not Zytel). It's a great folder, perfect size for general utility, and has the classy styling of a traditional Italian stiletto.

Also if you look closely there is a little nub on the lock bar that acts as a smooth bearing surface when closing the knife and as a standoff point against the far side liner so the lock doesn't move over too far behind the blade pivot end. The pocket clip screws thread into the steel liner for a secure fit.
