Staying with the same theme as the Stribenza thread I was wondering if anybody has successfully replaced the non-locking scale on their Ti-Millie with a G-10 scale?

Yes it has been done in CF/Ti

How did you overcome the task of removing the scale from the lanyard tube. Also, how did you put it back on?

You just pull it out when you want to take it out and push it in when you want it to go in, pretty easy :D

I was going to whip up one of these hybrids, but the weight savings (22gm.) didn't justify the monkeying around. However I did put an S90V blade into one Ti Military and an S60V blade into another.

they used different scales from different knives. you cant buy them from spyderco, but perhaps you could do it yourself, or find a person that makes custom scales to do it.

Where can I purchase different scales for my military?

Some custom makers can produce them, but be prepared to pay close to or more than the cost of a user G-10 military. If I were going to do this, I would look for a well used G-10 model that I intend to part out. Then I would re-sculpt the G-10 a bit to my preference (perhaps a small modification to the texture that completely obscures any signs of use by the previous owner).

I've got a CF/Ti military in my hands just now, it's getting a full back spacer in CF.

I have to say I do like it, it's nicer than the full Ti IMO. :)
