This is a review of the lionsteel sr1. When I first got the knife I was shocked just how remarkable the single piece of ti for a handle was. I've seen pictures and videos but that doesn't do it justice till you see it in person. The blade is a high flat grind wich starts of pretty thick but it is such a tall blade by the time you get to bevel it has thinned a lot. The design of the blade seemed a bit weird at first but after some good use I love it. The action is very smooth, they use teflon washer like the ones on the xm-18. the rotoblock is nice as an over extender prohibitor but I don't see myself every locking it fixed.

the one thing I didn't like is how slick the ti comes. I then looked in to having it bead blasted. I came across a forum members thread that does it here for free, dslteck. I can't thank him enough ,after the bead blasting the grip was improved ten fold

.it was then time to put this bad boy to use at the plant nursery. We were busy as hell this last weekend. I cut endless pieces of two ply twine to use to tie trees to car roofs and cut excess after tied. I also cut open a lot of trees wich where tied up by some sort of nylon twine, cute the tress from the netter, some cardboard and other tasks. This knife was used to death this last weekend and let me tell you this sleipner steel really impressed me .ITS STILL VERY SHARP.the steel cuts very nice, similar to d2 wich its said to be an improved version of. I would love to tell more about the steel but I just havnt dulled it enough yet to haha,I can tell you this its in zdp, xhp, elmax level already (edge retention wise)where it goes from here we ll have to wait and see. Before anyone asks I didn't just stab garbage it was already cracked, just a place to mount knife in pic haha.

I've always wanted one but talked myself out of it (especially because I heard sleipner wasn't as corrosion resistant as some of the other steels out there today). That is an extremely nice looking knife. Congrats on actually making it a user too.

great to see it as a user, an actual user not just cutting paper or cardboard, but some actual realworld use very nice:thumbup:

Mine usually beats the XM-18 in terms of what I choose to carry...never thought that would happen! :) I like the bead blast.

Just got some real good use in again today ,my body aches from the amount of work I put in today and this knife is still really sharp. Im very pleased with sleipner to say the least.Yesterday I pocketed my newly acquired sng, after three busy days of what you see above the sliepner is sharper then the sng after one(nothing scientific about it alll just an observation )

I skinned an alligator with my SR-1, it stayed remarkably sharp throughout and gator hyde is terribly tough. Great knife!!!

I once saw one or a cayman getting cut up on one of those survival shows and it seemed like a real difficult task for the host . Another thing I noticed about this steel is its tough, no edge deformation or micro chips at all. One negative im not a fan of is the deep pocket clip, its fine bare handed in jeans but with gloves on clipped to thick carhart pocket it took some extra time to get it out sometimes.

Definitely different strokes for different folks---the deep pocket clip/invisible carry is one of the reasons I like it so much! Granted, if I was to be gloved and in an area it didn't matter, I'd take my Hinderer or Manix along.

Did a lot of black hose cutting for drip today, edge held up great!
