Ti Tyrade vs. G10 Tyrade

Just got my G10 Tyrade, and so far I love it - but I notice some interesting differences from my Ti Tyrade:

First the obvious - the blade. I forget the technical reason why the G10 Tyrade's blade looks different - but if you search on here you will find those more in the know discussing the reason why.

2nd...the clip. The Ti Tyrade's clip is noticably bigger then the G10 Tyrade's clip:

And there is gimping on the Ti Tyrade and not the G10 Tyrade

Just a couple of interesting differences...plus I wanted to help others see both Tyrades side to side for comparison.

(disregard the date on the pics, for some reason my camera is putting that date instead of 5/18 all of a sudden :)

I know the G10 tyrade has a stone washed blade compaired to the bead blasted and etched blade of the titanium tyrade. I really like jimping on folders and dont know why they left it out on the G10 version.

One other major difference is a frame lock vs a liner lock....granted the liner lock on the G-10 version is as strong as the frame lock on the average production knife.

This is my first post, I promise I'm not a Troll. :)

Thanks for posting those pics. I'm trying to patiently wait for the the same black G10 Tyrade I ordered and the titanium version is on my list.

I didn't know about the lack of jimping on the G10's but I guess I can live with that. It certainly would not have slowed down my decision to purchase one given all of the other features of the knife I like as well as the price. It is still nice to let people know since I could not see that from any pictures on the site that I ordered from.

The G10 Tyrade is probably going to see a decently amount of duty as my primary EDC.

Is there a significant amount of difference in the weight of these two?

I have the Ti Tyrade, and am seriously considering the G-10, either in black, or blue.

6.6oz on the Ti version.
6.9oz on the G10 versions.
Very good weight in the hand, and the pocket.
Easier to grip as well.

I see 2B already answered your question. Let me add that the knife feels so good in your hands. And if anyone is even remotely considering getting one, don't hesitate....get one! Heck...this knife is worth twice what I paid for it. Kershaw hit another homer with this one, though I can't see anyone wanting a CB JYD2 now that this knife is out. I am happy cause I was thinking of finally breaking down and using my Ti Tyrade before hearing about the G10 Tyrade. Now I am looking to getting the Orange & BLUE G10 Tyrade someday :-)

That someday better be someday soon wavester! I am in total agreement with your assessment of the G10 Tyrades. My titanium Tyrade has been retired and will no longer be used, not that it was ever used that much to begin with, but the G10 will be used. I have another black and two orange G10's coming at the end of the month, with a blue and two tan's on order, I am taking advantage of the low, low price of these knives, cause once gone.................... Btw, I have become so enamored with the G10 Tyrade that I have not carried either my ZT0205 or ZT0500 since it arrived, especially since I have been able to mount the foldover clip to it!

You'd better hurry, I bought/have bought/pre-ordered 5 of each model to go with my Ti's.

okay! got the ti framelock original in the mail today!

i must say, i prefer the g10 tyrade. mostly because of the grippy g10 scales. although i recognize the quality of materials/lock on the original, the tip up option on the g10 is the deal breaker! i wish the g10 had the gimping on the liners, but for <$85, i can live without.

i feel uncomfortable with only tip down carry on the original.

that being said, both the original and the g10 are keepers!

cheers, kimo

I'm gonna go ahead and say that the Ti Tyrade just has the sweetest looks. Plus, its TITANIUM, THE MOST AWESOME METAL. maybe not the grippiest or lightest, but its beautiful.

I liked the black G10 model, so good, I ordered blue G10. I think these knives, should last along time. What does everyone else think? Are they as tough as the ZT's?

My only experience with ZT is the 0400 model. So I would have to say that they are as least as tough as the 0400 model for sure. Plus the G-10 Tyrade takes a better edge than the 0400 did.

Don't forget about the price difference between the Ti and the G-10, I didn't want to buy the Ti because of the price but now I have or have preordered all the G-10's I've got to get the Ti also. Just when you think your out they pull you back in.

everyone that sits on the fence for this one will sure be chit out of luck when they're gone!

a tan and blue are now preordered!:D

my wife is gonna kill me!

cheers, kimo

I just ordered a orange. It is all Kimo fault. Show me the picture of his.

Traded off my g10 tyrade. Just didn't like it and probably in the minority here. I think the ZT200 is a better knife. Things I didn't like on the g10 T is first no thumb studs, flipper worked but wasn't that fast for an a/o, and I just didn't like the two steels how they were melded together. No jimping on the top of the knife either. Now I like the Lahar alot, and the ZT200 along with the Skyline. Anyways that's it for me. keepem sharp

Like the rest here, I've also ordered multiples. Counting the single black G10 I currently have, when they all come in I will have 7 G10 Tyrades. As stated in my above post I have 1 black and 2 oranges coming at the end of the month, and then 1 blue and 2 tans whenever they arrive. They are not all mine though as I am giving my son a black and a tan model. Of course I may have to up the order to include a second black G10 for me. Never know when I might need it, or better yet, knowing I have a second one will yet me put the one I currently have to good use and see exactly what it is made of!:D

agreed! i'll probably put the black g10 through the paces to see what this blade can do.

i find the g10 handle very grippy sorta like my spyderco manix. maybe thats why the elimination of the jimping (also to save cost).

multiples here too!

cheers, kimo
