I'm really need a bit help here... I'm trying to decide wich knife will be my next purchase for a EDC folder:

On one side the leek: I've already had a regular one (1660)... great EDC, I used daily for more than a year... light sleek design, lighting fast deplyopment... but blade doesn´t hold a sharp edge that long, and I want a better steel and nicer handles (Ti).

On the other side: mini cyclone is a new design, seems to be very well recomended for this forums and is also same good materials; but I can't tell from the pictures how it handles compared to a leek... I'm affraid it turned to be a bit bulky on hand.

I'm intend to get the TI/ZDP version of any of them... but I can only afford one at this time (pretty much close in price terms).

So, anyone that have both can tell me how they compare on handling ?... can someone post a couple pics with both side by side for comparison ?

Thanks a lot for your kind help.

Regards.

ive had bolth-
i like the handle shape and blade shape of the mini cyclone myself-not bulky at all
you will love zdp-stuff might last the average person a lifetime without having to sharpen it-lol

I've had both. I feel the Leek is easier to EDC. Take a look at the Leek with S30V blade and G10 handles. It is an awesome knife.

Thanks for your comments so far.

I know mini cyclone is great in terms of materials, contruction and performance; and that make it a great knife.

But my question is about its design and how it feels on the hand... and how that compares to a leek..

Anoyone can proivide a side by side picture of both ?

thanks... keep them comming....

I have them both and I vote for the leek. I actually never even carried the mini cyclone because it was just not my type. I work in an office and I like small "friendly" looking knives.

The leek is really growing on me and I use it all the time. Did I mention that I recently bought a small sebenza with snakewood inlay? The leek is just more fun. It's high tech (ZDP189 titanium), small and thin, and not so offensive to sheeple (comparred to the mini cyclone).

I also like the lock better on the leek. The selector or whatever it's called on the mini cyclone is not very comforting to me. It moves back and forth so easily, I just don't see it being a sure thing.

My leek has a date of April 07 on the blade, and it is a little crooked in the handles, and the grind is not very symetrical. I understand that these later dated blades were done differently somehow, and if those things would matter to you, I'd suggest looking for one with the 06 manufacturing date.

Really though, you should have at least one of each.

Did you mean that you like the ZDP leek beter than your small sbenza ?? Wow !... that is saying a lot !

I've dreaming on buy a small sbenza myself... (I still reluctant because the price...).

Could you comment a bit more on this ?

thanks !

I appreciate the fit and finish of the sebenza, but the leek is just fun. I'm not afraid to practice my sharpening skills with it. I can carry it in my pocket with keys and change. I'm not afraid to use it as a work knife.

Both knives are still quite new to me and maybe over time the sebenza will win out. I just haven't found a comfortable way to carry the sebenza yet. I have an idea in mind but right now I am inclined to baby it. The leek I just put through the paces and enjoy it.

The ti/zdp leek is lighter than the sebenza and is easier to carry in dress pants. The sebenza is carriable, but a bit on the heavy side for dress pants (perfectly fine in jeans). The mini cyclone ti/zdp is too heavy for dress pants, but fine for jeans. I arry both the leek and sebenza regularly, as well as a WH B10 and a few others. When I'm wearing jeans, I tend to carry bigger/heavier knives.

I have to chime in and say that I have both the Sebenza and TIZDP Leek. I really like the TIZDP Leek, it carries well in dress slacks (in pocket) and clipped in jeans.

I'm looking forward to to seeing how the ZDP holds it edge with EDC use. Plus with the assisted opening the Leek if a fun knife to carry. In my opinion it offers a better value option for a high end knife than some the new ZDP William Henrys.

It would be nice if the TIZDP Leek also had a deep carry TI pocket clip (any possibilities for this option as an aftermarket item Kershaw?).
