Am in the market for a new EDC, and have been looking at the Mini-Cyclone and Leek Ti-ZDP's. Don't have a local shop where I can go see/handle them, and it's hard to tell much from internet pictures. Neither is what I'd call inexpensive as production knives go. Would like to see/hear a little more about them.

I would have to say the ZDP Cyclone. You get more knife for the money. Both can be had for around $140, so go with the newer knife. Kershaw has really hit the nail on the head with the ZDP Cyclone, it's the best knife I don't own. :(

With all the cool stuff coming out in Late summer, I have to save $$$ now. I also have the fortune/misfortune of playing a lot of poker, and I have to have the best poker chips too. Yes, there are chip nuts just like knife nuts. So I have spent about $1200 this year on poker chips. Knives took a slight back seat, but with the Shallot, the Tyrade, the new Leek coming out, and the Random Leek, my wallet is tied up for a while

JD, either knife is great, but the Cyclone is the best for the money.

Damn you guys, I have to buy a TI/ZDP cyclone now. I've been on the boarder for some time now, but it looks like ill have to just do it.

Did it, its on its way, Ill let you know what I think when I get it. But I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Ant BTW. I have 4 Leeks, they are my personal favorite knife.

off topic, but giant fan, what knife is in your avatar and is kershaw ever gonna make something like that?

Taboo, right Jeremy? I do believe they are sgmongoose. Jeremy may be able to tell ya nore though. I dunno.

thanks, i searched taboo, couldnt really find info on them except that the originals are a few grand.

i really hope i can by something similar in the future.

do you happen to know the blade size on them?

Wow! I sat down here last night after a long day at work, to drink a tea-breaser, and write a responce before going to bed, and woke up this morning with a half of my drink left, a stiff neck, a soar back, and an imprint of the keyboard on the right side of my forehead and cheek! Oh, there's my glasses, on the floor under my chair.

What I had intended to write, before I zonked, was that I had decided to order the Leek, for several reasons. First, I have several drop point, and speer point blades with full round bellies, including large and small Sebenza's, MT-LLC, etc... though most are drawer queens because they're too expensive to risk damage or loss. However, I've never owned a Warncliff style blade. I know the Leek isn't an orthodox Warncliff, but it's closer than anything I've had to date. I played with the cheep versions of the leek at places like Lowe's and Walmart, and it's a nice thin carry size, and the assisted open thing is cool! It's also small and thin enough to just ride easily in the bottom my pocket with loose change, without having to use the clip, even though it has a nice sturdy looking clip to use If I choose to. I've also heard a lot of people, elsewhere, not just here, say the leek was one of their favorite knives, but they usually follow that statment with they just wish it was made with better steel. So, this knife will represent several firsts for me, my first Kershaw, my first Warncliff style blade, and my first blade in ZDP steel. As I thought about it, I realized, even if the TiZDP Leek doesn't "Cut It" as my permanent EDC, I can go back and buy the Mini-Cyclone version, and still have spent less than a used small Sebenza would have cost. BTW, I found them on sale at Kifeworks.com for $115.

ZDP Cyclone by far! If ya don't want to spend the $$$, the plain Cyclone is one hell of a bargain for the $$.

My sharpmaker HATES my ZDP...
