Received this UBBB yesterday. The horn handle slabs had shrunken away from the full tang and the buttcap somewhat. So out to the shop to grind the full tang down just a little. Then a little superglue wicked into the tiny gap between the tang and horn. The gap between horn and buttcap was too large for superglue so I mixed a little epoxy up with some black and a tiny bit of red colorant. The red makes it match the horn better. After everthing dried, a quick buff of the horn and brass, and a trip to the belt sander for a polished convex edge. Bura's forging on this one is impeccable. The blade is as straight as a laser. The engraving on the guard is crisp and clean. The backside of the guard towards the handle is the only poorly finished piece on the sword, with hammer and grinder marks

The village Sarki really outdid himself on the scabbard. The leather is the best I've ever seen out of BirGorka. It's an incredibly deep shade of brown. Some black liquid shoe polish on the seam and the edges of the frog, then a coat of Kiwi Cordovan shoe polish, and it's the prettiest scabbard I have.

The handling of this 32" sword is great. It swings well one handed, even for a little guy like me. Point of balance is 4" in front of the guard. It has a 23 1/4" blade, and the handle is 8 1/2". Weight is 2 1/2 pounds even. Rusty, I know now why you love these swords! Now for the pictures!

Good snag on that one, Steve. I know how it is to get a scabbard with really good leather. Just got a Berk Special whose leather is superb. You sure made that sword come alive. Great pictures, too.

Absolutely beautiful work by Bura, sarki, and Steve (on work and pictures, and drums.)
