OK, I know I need to get some pics, but I just had to share my initial impressions of the Tibetan Sword that I won during Yangdu's most generous and awesome raffle last week:)

First of all, Bura has not missed a step. The fit and finish on this sword surpasses that of my Manjushree by him...I honestly didn't think it could be done without tacking on another 300 dollars for polishing time. I'm not a swordsman by any stretch of the imagination (sharp side goes into the bad guy, right?), but the handling of this sword is incredible. It's a thick heavy sword, but it ebbs and floats when you move with it. It feels like it is moving you, not the other way around. The balance point is about 4" in front of the guard, and when you choke up on the grip it feels very neutral in hand. However swung downward with a two handed grip would most certainly split your target in twain. You can thank its 3/8" spine for that;)

The edge is very well done and straight from tip to bolster. Not razor sharp, but certainly sharp enough to cleave with. With very little work it could pop hair. The steel guard is even and centers perfectly. The wooden grips are perfectly affixed to the tang.

I could not be more pleased. I am so grateful to Yangdu and the kamis for this sword. I think it very might have knocked my coveted Manjushree off as my favorite. I'll try to get a couple of pics up soon.

I've got to be honest with you guys. It's been awhile since I felt such spirit pumping out of a blade. This one has something special going on. I dunno what it is yet, but it's a keeper. Thank you so very much, Yangdu. This one is going on the wall in my office, I think:thumbup:

I have the Short Tibetan sword by Bura as well.
I agree with your assessment. It is one bad-ass sword.
Full tang, very heavily built and strong, yet well balanced and quick.
Good for the thrust or cut.
If I had to do battle without a firearm this would be one of my top pics.

I showed it to my wife at lunch today. She exclaimed, "Now that's a zombie chopper!"

Y'all can see why I married her;):p

That's really cool, Jake:)
It is definitely on my list.
Thanks for sharing and I'm glad it chose you, watch for zombies:D

I SO wanted that sword !! I love the Tibetan and Himalayan HI Swords.
They are, I think, my favorite HI pieces...But then, I have so many runners-up in mind..

It was a beaut of a ke tri too, very slender point. Their bulk makes you wonder if Tibetans routinely had to ward away the Incredible Hulk or something! :D

I love mine. I am remiss in posting pix. It is perhaps the best balanced and livelist of the the HI swords. That surprised me a bit. One hand or two handed, it just flys around.

Congrat on the sword! Has anybody here actually chopped with it or had any actual experience with using the sword for practical purposes? I love mine as well (also done by Master Kami Bura and has a beautiful brown leather scabbard) but have not used it. Every time I take it out though, I get the feeling that this piece of steel is meant to be used instead of sitting on the wooden sword stand.

I haven't used mine yet, but I plan on giving it a sword appropriate workout in the near future.

I wish:D Supposedly, i can carry on a folder up with up to 4" of blade length. However, knowing how scared people get of knives, I'm regulating myself to a couple of SAKs and a tiny little Ladybug Salt:rolleyes:

That said, I like this sword so much i wish I could take it with me. Hey, my high school reunion is the saturday that I get back. Maybe I could pack it to that...it honestly wouldn't surprise my old classmates:foot:

Thank you for the kind words, Jake

I carry big knifes all the time to go with my full size 1911 and extra magazines.
The public never knows, just learn how to dress.
I use cover vests or shirts and good holsters, belt and sheaths.

This place has great vests "long enough to conceal big knives and guns"with built in internal mag holders and inside pockets to hide tools.
