OK, I know I need to get some pics, but I just had to share my initial impressions of the Tibetan Sword that I won during Yangdu's most generous and awesome raffle last week
First of all, Bura has not missed a step. The fit and finish on this sword surpasses that of my Manjushree by him...I honestly didn't think it could be done without tacking on another 300 dollars for polishing time. I'm not a swordsman by any stretch of the imagination (sharp side goes into the bad guy, right?), but the handling of this sword is incredible. It's a thick heavy sword, but it ebbs and floats when you move with it. It feels like it is moving you, not the other way around. The balance point is about 4" in front of the guard, and when you choke up on the grip it feels very neutral in hand. However swung downward with a two handed grip would most certainly split your target in twain. You can thank its 3/8" spine for that
The edge is very well done and straight from tip to bolster. Not razor sharp, but certainly sharp enough to cleave with. With very little work it could pop hair. The steel guard is even and centers perfectly. The wooden grips are perfectly affixed to the tang.
I could not be more pleased. I am so grateful to Yangdu and the kamis for this sword. I think it very might have knocked my coveted Manjushree off as my favorite. I'll try to get a couple of pics up soon.
I've got to be honest with you guys. It's been awhile since I felt such spirit pumping out of a blade. This one has something special going on. I dunno what it is yet, but it's a keeper. Thank you so very much, Yangdu. This one is going on the wall in my office, I think:thumbup:
