I have been trying some new things with a Pen Knife.

If this does not scream Tibet'n Tactical I don't know what does.

I am a newbie, and I know nothing of the Tibetan Tactical. Please explain.

Andy

Nothin to explain..... Just statin finished a Penknife Cold blued it with gun blue and polished the edge.

The idea being to make it kinda of a tactical finish... In other words I am engageing in mental masterbation.

I don't care what you call it. Paying attention to a fine tool, maintaining the tool, brings out the beauty of the steel and form.

Thanks Munk your a good guy. I am just trying to have fun and test new things. AND............ I don't take myself very seriously.

In fact I am busy buffing the blue back off. LOL!

Hi Big Jim,

Damned fine idea... I've been wondering what to do with my 8 Khuks from HI, and know I know... I've got a couple of CAKs from Khukuri House that I think I'll practice on...

BTW, do you, or anybody else have any ideas on how to burnish the blades, to further reduce glare? I've Dremel tools back in Maine, and was wondering what you and the other folks might think of using brass or steel brushes? Add your bluing idea, and "Tactical" becomes even more beautiful...

Quiet, fast, unseen, and deadly... What more could one ask? Unless it might be a damsel or two in distress? Dragons to slay and BBQ? Creating World Peace through "Peace Through Strength?" Nah... I'll leave the BBQ and World Peace to you young guys... Me? I'll try my hand at rescuing the damsels- if they ever show up...;)

Have a great weekend, Big Jim... Thanks for giving me something to work on...

I wonder what the kamis would come up with for their idea of Tibet'n tactical, most likely something none of us would think of

When I was at Fort Lewis, I wrapped the handle and sheath of my Chitlangi with black grip tape. That killed the glare of the polished wood and brass.

Honestly, if it were a genuine issue, I'd say degrease thoroughly, then spray paint with flat tan, brown, or OD enamel. Yeah, I know it's sacrilege, but tools were made for us, not vise-versa.

Mostly for fun, I've considered bluing at least one blade as well (but didn't want to do my long-loved WWII or my new Soldier's Knife). Maybe I'll do my GRS when I get a little time. :)

I blued a big 20" villager AK a while ago. Wearing off now, mostly from the cleaning with Flitz after chopping. Still looks cool, though.

My 12 " AK got a lovingly done satin finish now and a carefully polished edge.......not hair poppingly sharp but that's all I can manage :o

That's my favovite now :)

Birchwood Casey makes a product called Brass Black if you want to do the complete tactical thing. Some black leather dye for the wood, and you've got yerself a ninja camping knife. Betcha you'll have the only one in the campground.

It looks great, I'm gonna blue one someday, and will look for that brass black stuff.

Maybe the 18" AK villager.. hmmm. Black blade, steel bolster and striped hot pepper wood...

If I was hunting this year, the paint is a great idea too.. all finishes come off, anyways, except green scotch-brite pad Satin.
