I've had the pleasure, and I hope to buy some more from George. George's knives are very, very solid and excellent performers. You really should handle them because they have a distinctive feel. I find them to be on the heavy side, but I like them. The designs are a matter of taste, of course, but the fit and finish has been first rate on every Tichbourne I've seen. Simple, solid and utterly reliable. And, IMHO, excellent value.
The blades are generally 440C and I'm not sure who heat treats them, but they seem to take and keep an excellent edge. Knives Illustrated did a big comparison test of camp knives two or three years back and came up with a short list of exceptional knives, in terms of performance. Mr. Tichbourne's knife was right up there on that very short list, which included forged 52100 and D2 pieces costing much more. George and Carol, his wife, are a pleasure to deal with. If you like the design and it feels right in your hand, you won't be dissappointed by the performance, that's for sure.
