Does anyone have any first hand knowledge about George Tichbourne Custom Knives? I found out today that I have an early Xmas gift that is supposed to be shipped tomorrow from this maker. It is a small "Silver Spur C-4" in 440C. This is a fixed blade knife. I have heard a little about this maker, all good so far. Anyone have anything to add?

You are a very lucky guy. George makes great knives. He and his wife Carol are two of the nicest folks you would ever want to meet. I have several of George's knives and they are all wonderful. The 440C is a really excellent steel in his hands. You will be pleased, I'm sure, and you probably will want to get some more Tichbourne knives once you get the bug. Check out the site: http://www.tichbourneknives.com/

HJK has the right of it…George and Carol Tichbourne are some of the best folks you could hope to deal with in the custom knife community. George's knives are exceptional…I own two of his bowies as well as a couple of his excellent kitchen knives, and I couldn't be more pleased. 440C is a great cutlery steel and George really knows how to get the most out of it. I use one or more of my Tichbourne knives virtually everyday…I don't think I can make that claim about any of my other customs. I think you'll be very pleased with your "Silver Spur". IIRC, that's one of George's integral models…very spiffy stuff.

Thanks for your replies to my post about the Tichbourne knife. I got the impression over the phone that George and Carol were top notch folks and very friendly and professional. Am looking forward to receiving the knife.

Well now, I think that about sums it all up. My work here is done. :D

Everybody has summed it up very well. Carol and George are fantastic folks. I know they've made me feel more like part of an extended family than just a customer. Return the favor to whoever is getting you that early Christmas gift and give them one of George's kitchen knives. They are a real pleasure to use, excellent ergonomics and performance!:)

Gentlemen, "Thankyou" for your kind words.

Walter, your knife was photographed last night, and will be shipped this afternoon. Now you realize because it is supposed to be a Christmas Gift that you won't be able to open it until December 25th
;) .

Best regards, Carol Tichbourne

George's work is very nice. Besides the knives, George and Carol run a metal polishing business, so mirror finishes are his stock-in-trade.

Carol, I feel as though I know you folks already. In regards to the Xmas present, the person who is going to end up paying for it was looking over my shoulder while I was looking through some makers sites and I came to yours. After looking for awhile I made the comment that I wouldn't mind having "that" and the rest you know. I will very definitely give some feed back when I receive it. Thanks Again.

It's not often that a customer will come along and purchase a knife unseen with little or no proof that the knife even exists or for that fact that it will be shipped on time.

Walt here is a photo that Carol took of the knife last night.

I hope you like it .

I have one that is quite similar and I can say the picture does not do it justice!

HJK, that is the second time this week I have heard that about my photos. Maybe I should go and take some photography lessons or something :)

As I recall you did not receive a photo because it had just been completed the day of the show. If you'd like drop it by and I'll see if I can take a decent shot of it for you ;)

Every knife that goes out the door any more I try my best to send a photo with it, that way there is a record for the Customer and in many cases it's easier to show a photo than carry the knife around. This policy was put in place after the last Bowie that Ugly Jim purchased. I have felt so guilty ever since because he has not been able to get a good photo of it.

Carol,
I didn't mean to suggest there was a failing of your photography; rather, it was a failing of my imagination :)

HJK, my goodness I didn't mean to suggest I was offended :) I was only joking with you. On the contrary I am delighted that the knives are found more pleasing in real life ;)

I agree with all the favorable comments made so far. What more could I say? Well.....

I will enjoy using my Kitchen knives during the holiday season again this year :D

I received the knife this morning and I must say that I have to agree with "all" the favorable comments. This is a beautiful knife and the finish is excellant. As someone said, photo's cannot do this knife justice. The service was excellent, courteous and prompt. Five days from Canada to south central Texas is not bad. I want to thank George and Carol. I definitely will recommend them to any one.
