I just got a Tidioute 61 in, a four blade congress, from a trade on Facebook. I am normally not one for whittlers, congress or senator patterns. Must be OCD from growing up around all of those stockmans :D . I stopped at my PO to pick it up before work, and was pleasantly surprised at how well the sheepsfoot blades opened. I was thinking it was going to be a bear trap, small blades on top of the infamous GEC guillotine of some patterns. I was floored when the small spey/pen blades were easy to get open, even though the nail nick was right at the top of the frame. I'm so used to my trappers and jacks, that I have really not given other patterns their due. I don't know if this is the one to make me switch to just congress and whittler patterns ;), but I do know that I should stick it in the pocket for a spell. 2nd cut burnt stag scales, not awe inspiring but nice. I was just surprised at how far GEC has come in their springs.

Congress patterns have a way of growing on you the more you use them, in my experience. I have a #61 & a #62 and I would agree that the springs are a bit mellowed from the usual GEC standard, though they are still nice and crisp. It's a great pattern, capable of a variety of different and useful blade combinations, in a comfortable frame/size. Let's see some pics!

Likewise I've a 62 and a 61. My 61 is my favourite knife by a mile. Let's see your pics SHS

:)

I agree with you guys, gec in my opinion does a good job at tweaking the spring tension to fit the pattern. The congress's I've had were all pulls on the easier side which is great because you have less purchase area, and the blades are smallish. But accordingly the scout/ trapper patterns have been bear traps which I really like because it encourages the hard use.

I'm a huge fan of equal knives / senators. But I just can't do the back-curved congress pattern knives like the #61, #62 and #63. :(

The 63 is the mako. But the 13 is the congress jack.
