Got my first GEC knife today, a Tidioute Huckleberry Boys Knife in ebony with the one arm opening blade and secondary pen blade. Super impressed with the workmanship and the feel. I like being able to open this with one hand occupied holding something but the opener is a bit sharp in the pocket. I could put it in a leather slip but then it negates the one hand easy open feature. These are the regular ebony covers that have a little color variation, not the Gabon Ebony which tend to be completely black.

I also have a Beer Scout on order with the Beer Barrel covers. Like to get a Cody Scout too in African Blackwood.

Congratulations on your first GEC! My first was also a #15 Huck with sheepfoot main, pen secondary, and jigged antique yellow bone covers. I've since added a #38 Farmer's Jack and one from the recent run of #77 Barlows. They're all amazing knives. I'd like to land a TC Barlow someday.

Congratulations. My first GEC was also a #15 (Scout). It will bring you many good years of service, and cause you fall off the slippery slope of wanting more & more GEC's :)

Congratulations! And welcome to the club...errr...porch...err whatever. After I "discovered" traditionals an year ago, these are my main carry, and have replaced all modern folders. Enjoy the knife in good health.

I am not sure if I should congratulate you or give you my condolences .
I will however tell you that you picked a very nice looking GEC to start with. It just looks very nice to me.
That also is a nice photo to show it off.

Awesome! For some reason it seems everyone's first GEC was a #15. I wonder if it's because it's just one of their most popular patterns. My first GEC was very similar. Though mine's a single blade model with antique yellow jigged bone. The antique yellow bone is definitely one of my favorite covers, they seem to get better as they age. Here is a picture of it barely in the sun.

Thanks guys. Yes, it has already started me down the slippery slope of GEC knives.

Jak3, I really like the single blade version of this model and would love to find one. I am not a big fan of 2 blades on smaller EDC knives, just too much bulk for what I want.

I have alwys owned larger knives but found after a week or two I would stop carrying them and just go back to slim Victorinox. GEC gives me a chance to own some classy, vintage styles that are small enough to actually carry and use, therefore justifying their purchase. Already been selling some larger stuff and trying a few smaller GEC models.

Paul, that's a beautiful Scout! My first GEC was also a #15 (in fact, I think my first four were). It's a fantastic pattern, and I love the variety of different #15's GEC has produced. (Sadly, I discovered GEC some time after those Scouts were produced, so it remains on my desire-but-unlikely-to-acquire list. :D)
