This weekend, a couple friends and I will be going on a canoe/camping trip down a section of the Allegheny, finishing up in Tidioute, PA. Starting Friday midday and ending Sunday.

So, my main question for those who might know - is there anything in Tidioute related to the brand history or knife history in general that would be worth checking out? Even if it's simply to drive by and point? If not, I will simply enjoy the novelty.

I know GEC is only 25 minutes from there, but my understanding is that they are closed this week (had the thought of going there Friday).

Of course, I will have at least one Tidioute knife on me for this trip for use around the camp fire. I'll also be bringing a couple other useful knives bought from people on this forum, which brings a certain joy.

There is a Museum on Rt 62 in Tidioute that might have some items of interest...…. Other than that I don't know of anything right in Tidioute.....

Cool, thanks. I'll check that out. I figured there wouldn't be much, but would hate to be out there and miss something.

I think there's a historical train ride, the museum, the closed Queen factory.
GEC of course is right in Titusville as is the Queen bldg. There is a (Safari club?)
restaurant 20 min. away with an amazing big Game trophy collection, if interested!!
I ate lunch under a huge ELephant!!

Tidioute itself doesn't have too much... But Titusville isn't far away and has the Drake Well Museum, GEC factory, Oik Creek State Park, a train ride, etc.

We will have to check out this restaurant. We will at least drive by GEC (may as well get my bearings for an eventual rendezvous trip).

Thanks, I will look into the museum and park.

I fly fish Oil Creek at the State Park. Beautiful park. Great trout fishing. Worth a visit. Decent picnic area and restrooms.

As a quick follow up for those who may be interested, the canoe trip to Tidioute was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time. We finished our trip just before the bridge, then had breakfast in Tidioute. We then drove to Titusville to go by GEC and the old Queen factory. Looking forward to stopping back to GEC when they're open, or for the rendezvous.

For some extra little fun, I took my Oily Creek Bone Tidioute 93 down to Oil Creek that runs near the GEC building. I gave it a dip in the water, then promptly dried it off. Now it's a true Oily Creek. A silly thing to do? Yes. But I'll remember it.

That's not silly...

That's awesome!

Instantly quadrupled the knife's value.

;)

edit: describe it from now on as "having been properly baptized".
