Tiger and CSF handle opinions.....

I am going to be replacing my cqc8 for either a Tiger or CSF as my EDC. The one issue is I occasionally use my cqc8 for skinning and gutting durring deer season. My edc has to do it all since its always with me and I am a hardcore hunter. My question is I sometimes have to grip the knife lower on the handle for a farther reach when gutting larger animals. I like to be able to grip the handle in different places. Which handle, Tiger or CSF offers more flexibility for this. Both blade styles are damn near perfect for skinning so it all comes down to handle design. Does the Tiger handle lock you into just one grip more than the CSF???
Input needed.

Being a long time Emerson fan, I have used many different Emersons for field dressing. Some worked ALOT better than others. I have used a cqc 7v, mini cqc 15, cqc 11, even a Desert Road House. The RH wasn't as bad as you would think for field dressing but it had a bit too much upswep blade but I recall the handle was comfortable.

I have both. The handle on the Tiger really locks your hand in place compared to the CSF. I am way more fond of the Tiger due to the grip and the fact that the blade isn't upswept like the CSF. Perhaps the blade is a slight downward swept angle on the Tiger. It just cuts better for me as pressure is gaining on the cutting edge as I pull. Push cuts are really no different to me other than the handle ergo's. Tiger stabs better for me into harder/stiffer materials, I don't feel the front of the handle want to kick upwards forcing a me to have a tighter grip or different approach angle with the CSF. I almost have to think I have a Hattin or Persian in my hands when using the CSF due to it's blade angle. All personal bit, different for everyone.

Great input. It looks like the Tiger's blade angle might be a better all around work knife. I have a similar opinion as you do with the Road House as you do with the CSF. Great as a fighter but might be a bit too upswept of a blade angle.

Thank you, that's what I was hoping to hear. That extra reach is necessary when field dressing larger animals. I wanted to confirm you could maintain control of the knife with a rear handle 3 fingered grip,..

Another option for you might be to wait for the 16 to come out. Not sure when but ER started a thread a while back saying they were coming soon.
