Where are they :confused::confused:

We have not seen a new model for a while. I have them all so far and am getting a little withdrawal happening here............

Ah hem.....(in best American accent)

BRING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

That's cause they went old school with the BWM LE and went with the black paper handles...

One day Tiger hide will be old school ;)

If I had been introduced to Busse earlier I would have gotten my hands on as many snake skin knives as I could. But since my passion with Busse was sparked by my ASH 1 LE, it's tiger hide all the way for me baby.

I repeat.......

BRING IT

I know I will be called blasphemous for this remark, but I really can't decide if I like tiger hide or snake skin better! I really think tiger hide looks better on satin, and snake skin on coated blades. Just my 2 cents!

AND YES, BRING ON THE TIGER & SATIN!!!:cool::thumbup:

I was delighted to see Jerry go to black paper micarta for the BWM LE. I enjoy handling and hefting my knives, especially new models, to get a feel for them. Tigerhide shows the slightest handling smudges from natural oils on the skin, whereas black paper is probably the most impervious/inert surface I've experienced in the Busse handle line-up other than Res-C--it shows no handling evidence whatsoever that I'm aware of. It also has a formal, dressy look that handsomely complements the jewelry-grade finish on most LE's. Just my $.02, but I hope black paper becomes the standard for LE models.

For me the black paper is just too slick for any larger knife that's going to see use. I can't seem to get a good enough grip on the black paper. Bring back the tigerhide. :D

Will does bring up a good point! The tiger hide on my FBM LE is beginning to fade from all the work I put her through. Does black paper not saturate like canvas? I have yet to put a blade with black paper scales through its paces...

While my favorite has been snake skin micarta, I understand the supply of this "accidental" material has been depleted. Can anyone out there confirm this?

I also like the look of Busse's "old" green linen micarta and I'll lucky enough to have a thin GL GW - but what I really want is a GL SAR-8! Any chance we'll see green linen micarata again? Comments?

When you say saturate, do you mean absorb liquids? It does do that, but black paper almost looks better after it is handled.

+1

The only noticeable "fading" of the black paper micarta surface I've noticed is when it is allowed to become extremely dry--our desert climate here in New Mexico sucks every last drop of moisture out of the air and everything it touches. Unpolished black paper surfaces take on a light "greenish" cast when allowed to dry beyond factory-finished condition, but a light handling brings back the luster without appearing ersatz.

The grips on my BWM LE have'nt saturated with the oil from my hands .... they sort of feel like Ebony .... smoother and more compacted than the feel you get from linen micarta grips .... so they tend to keep the same "look" ....

Funny really .... I would love at some time to have a uniform set of grips on my Busse knives .... but the ones I really like have every colour going ...lol ... black linen micarta make up the majority but I have tan, black and tan, coyote brown, snakeskin, black G10, Black Res C and finally black paper :D

It's a "motley crew" .... but the main thing is they are all "comfortable" in use ...
