Thanks to Skunk for this idea - Tru-Oil gunstock oil.

I sanded the grips down a bit to get rid of that extra-tackiness of the canvas micarta. Just some 800grit crocus cloth in ONE DIRECTION ONLY. Cleaned it up with some soap, water, and a scrubby-sponge. Then about 6 coats total of Tru-Oil.

The center is my snakeskin. The "other" tigerhide was mineral-oiled on Friday and untouched since. It sat in a drawer, so evaporation was minimal, but it ain't shiney no more.

I think it came out quite nice. I was worried. I wonder what the tan one would look like after this treatment?

it really gives her depth... good job..
i recently did a few stocks and the depth of grain really gets picked up, i never thought it would do the same for Micarta... but looks like it does.

looks great, it's really just a tongue / linseed oil mix i think. looks good! most rifle stock makers who use it rub it on with their hands which warms it and keeps it thin. i had one stock maker who did mine and put on one coat a week for seven weeks, in between coats he rubbed it down lightly with rotton stone and water. nicest stock i have!
