I just bought one of the new Tigersharp Neons after seeing that they won Blade's Innovative Imported Design award. I must say that I'm very impressed. The "Neon" model is available in Red or Blue handles, while the "Helium model is the silver coloured model. Mine is the larger version (model# TS215B) with blue anodised aluminium handles and 3 inch blade, made in Taiwan. The action is very smooth and the blade locks with a standard linerlock with no blade play in any direction. The knife is impeccably constructed, no doubt to CNC technology, and has 4 holes on one side of the handle for a nice visual effect and to enhance gripping. On the clip side the handle is smooth and the pocket clip is matte grey in colour and even has Tigersharp's toll free number should you need to contact them. The handle is also of open back construction to allow easy cleaning.
The main feature of course, is the ability to replace the blade. The knife comes with two blades, one plain and one partially serrated and it is very easy to replace them. Just unscrew the thumb studs and slide them back to remove the blade. After you insert the new blade, slide the studs forward and screw together. Tigersharp also sells replacement blades for about $6.00 US (pack of 2 blades). The blade frame (which holds the replaceable blades) is made of 440C steel, while the replaceable blades are of GIN-5 steel with an RC 61. The blades are all scalpel sharp and I found the tolerances very good. I used the plain edge to open up a few boxes, envelopes and to cut fruit and I could not really notice any difference in cutting compared to other blades. All in all, I find it a very cool little pocket knife that gives you the choice of either a plain or serrated edge all in one knife.
On their website www.tigersharp.com they have other models with G-10 scales called the "Krypton" and one with Zytel handles called the "Xenon" in addition to their fixed blade model. While the workmanship is great, I hope to see some larger sized folders in the near future.
