Tigerstripe on ZT 300 series?

I remember reading somewhere a while back that strider would tigerstripe their blades by doing a partial beadblast of the steel. I know that beadblasting opens the pores of the steel, so to speak, making it a little less corrosion resistant. I have had my 301 for quite some time and have never oiled it, without any signs of rust. Does anyone know how ZT does the tigerstriping? Is is simply two different colors of coating, or is beadblasting still part of the process? Just curious.

Thanks in advance.

Even if it does involve beadblasting (makes sense to me) it doesn't mean the blade will rust. The 0301 uses CPMS30V, a stainless steel. You're only likely to see corrosion in fairly corrosive environments.

Just don't dump it in saltwater or blood and let it sit.

Thanks for the info guys. And no worries about dumping it in saltwater, I have my salt 1 for that. Appreciate the responses.
