Brian Tighe's designs, especially the Tighe-Pan, have caught my attention. How are is knives from the functionality standpoint? The blades seem to be designed with primarily a tactical, not utility, focus. That in itself is not bad, a lot of good users like the Apogee or even the BM 710 have blade designs that appear to be essentially tactical.

I’ve used a Tighe Pinnacle for basic utility tasks for about a year now. The edge is extremely sharp, holds up well, and requires almost no effort to touch up. The sharp, narrow point is perfect for fine work. Handle ergonomics are great. I especially like the rectangular thumb disk. It’s easy to open and doubles as a large thumb platform when using the knife. I’m not too impressed with the fit and finish of many popular “tacticals.” I see way too many wandering grind lines, uneven finishes, and temperamental leaf locks. Brian’s F&F is pretty much flawless and exhibits no perceptible blade play. Blade grinds are straight and symmetrical, and the style doesn’t interfere with realistic edge geometry. I’d say Tighe’s workmanship is comparable to knives costing twice as much.

My only complaint is what seems to be a weak ball detent to hold the blade in the closed position. The knife has never opened unintentionally, but I feel that a liner lock should snap closed by itself when the blade is within a 1/2” or so of the stop pin.
