Hello folks. I had a question about my 500. It's a little tight opening and closing. Often when I close it, the blade might bounce back up and stick open just a little. I've washed the knife out with soap and warm water twice. I've also oiled the pivot and worked the blade, but it doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts, or do I just need to send it in to Buck. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would keep working at it. Your doing the right things, it just might take a little longer. I've had a few like that.

Put some water soluble polishing compound or some white toothpaste into the pivot area and work it back and forth several hundred times, flush it out with water, then WD40, then relube it and you should be good to go.

a sharp hit on the blades bolster onto a rag with a sold surface sometimes will help seat the bushing better and solve that action issue. If not send it on in..

Thanks. I may try that. If that doesn't work, I'll send it in. Thanks so much for responding.

You might try cleaning and oiling the lock bar and it's rocker pin. If the knife is assemble tightly, there can be friction between the liners and lock bar, especially if there is polishing compound or other debris in there. To help clear that out, open the knife and use strong blasts of compressed air straight down inside the knife.
