I have a CAMILLUS C-2 22 HORNET, unused and never sharpened. Beautiful knife, but the blades are the TIGHTEST blades in the joints I have ever seen to attempt to open. I can only open the main blade with my fingernails, the other 2 blades, I have to use a tool to pry them open.

The joints are not corroded or rusted as the knife appears new in all respects. Is it possible, maybe this knife was unfinished as the CAMILLUS factory closed??

Is there something that can be done to open these joints up a bit so the blades can open/close a little better?

If it were me, I would take it and insert it in a mineral oil bath for a day or so. Then, I would open all the blades about half way and leave it submerged in the mineral oil bath for another day. On the third day, move the blades back and forth while still submerged and see how they work at this point. If it appears to have improved the situation, then dry the knife off with a clean dry cloth and enjoy.

If your problem persists you may have to apply some mechanics to the pivot pins.

I have had mine for 15 years and two weeks. It still opens pretty easily. Still sharp too. ;) Good luck with yours.

You might want to also check in the traditional forum. I think someone there had good luck putting some kind of polishing compound in the joints and working the blades back and forth to polish and smooth the action of a traditional pocket knife.
