Tight Paramilitary 2 question

Hello everyone. I have a orange sprint paramilitary 2. When I tighten down all of the torx screws including the pivot screw the knife is very stiff. Should I be able to tighten them all down and it me smooth? or is it being stiff normal? The top torx closest to the pivot has to be loose along with the pivot for the knife to open smooth. I am asking this because I remember someone on youtube saying you can tighten down all the screws on a para 2 and it is still super smooth.

Thanks.

The idea of the pivot bushing is that it determines how tight you can make the screws. Ideally, that means you just tighten them down and have the 'right' tightness. In practice, it is not quite like that. People have preferences on how loose to make the pivot, and there is a +/- tolerance to any part, the pivot bushing included.

This is the long winded way of saying just back off the screws and loctite them where you like it because not every owner/PM2 combo is going to be the same, so you can't go by that youtube advice.

Yea i have 6 PM2's, well 5 with one the way but i have had some that come out the box buttery smooth and at the perfect tension and ive had some that ive had to play with a bit. As for the blade stop screws i do have one that need to be a tad on the loose side also.

Totally agree with CM65 & Kreole...there is a pretty significant variance in the Para2. Like CM65, I have several Para2s (5)...two have all screws (incl pivot) cranked down and they are buttery smooth with perfect lock up/no blade play! One has the screws cranked, but has a bit of blade play...and two had to be played with quite a bit to find their "sweet spot". On those two though cranking the screws (incl pivot) will completely lock open (or closed) the blade so it can't be moved! This is totally unlike the other three I have. These last two also (because I have had to back the screws out) do have a bit of blade play.

Pretty significant variance in the Para2 in this regard I have found. Model years of the knives include 2010, 2011 & 2012, with the 2011 & one of the 2012s being the two best (ie, cranked, buttery, no blade play).

I've had 3 and all came perfect and quickly developed play. Two of them could be adjusted out, but the third (my 20CP version) the pivot screws are bottomed out and were from the factory. I actually twisted a torx bit trying to tighten them further. It has a good bit of side to side play.

I have a stock black Para2 with such loose action, the blade just jumps open when the compression lock is opened. My Earth Brown para has much stiffer action, but not as tight as what you're describing.

Two of my sprint PM2's came with perfect (for me) action. One (S35VN), that I acquired LNIB in the secondary market, was way too loose for my taste. I just assumed the prior owner loosened the pivot to his liking, but it may have just been the way it came. I just tightened the pivot to my liking and that was it. There is no blade play in any of mine and all are perfectly centered.
