Hey guys, I bought a Talos as my first modern pocket knife. Now I notice a bit of play side to side and up & down. So, can that be adjusted with the pivot screw? How?

Slightly Tighten the pivot screw and see if it’s gone. If you still feel that you shouldn’t have much of a play, contact Spartan, I’m sure they’ll take care of the issue.

If the pivot is loose which it sounds like it is, tighten it down until it's a little stiff and then back it off until it's perfect for your preference. Might wana loctite it as well.

Yes, as already stated, an adjustment to the pivot should resolve the issue. Use a good Torx bit, Wiha IMO is the best to use. Their products are of good quality and fit correctly preventing stripped torx screws.

I’m getting a set tomorrow.

Wait to see if the pivot loosens again before using thread locker.
Thread locker is always my last resort. In fact I rather snug the pivot down every once in a while instead of using thread locker.

Try tightening the pivot just past where you want it. Slightly tighter and stiffer than you want it. Usually the action will smooth out in a few openings and you are left with a tight secure pivot and no blade play.

Hadn’t thought about leaving it a bit tight and letting it loosen by use, like a new slipjoint. Thank you!
