Pretty much all of my HI knives and khukris fit very loosely in their sheaths or scabbards. the seax and the kumar karda are so loose that they have fallen out :( Is there a way to tighten these up, particularly the sheath with the KK?

The easiest way to tighten up the sheath is to glue some leather in the throat of the sheath. I use hot-glue. There are other more complex methods of tightening, such as soaking the sheath in warm water until fully soaked, then tightly wrap it in paracord or the like up and down the full length and let dry completely. this will tighten the sheath also. The leather in the throat/top of the sheath is the best IMHO. Others will follow with better advice most likely. Till then, Good Luck! :D

I'm with AA...a slip of leather of the right thickness held with hot glue. Quick, easy and replaceable.

They will change according to seasons in some cases.

I had good luck initially with soaking the scabbards in water and wrapping them in surgical tubing until they dried; unfortunately the weather's changed a bit since then and one came loose again. The glued in leather strip is sounding better and better.

I have some scuffing of the blade in the really loose sheaths. The same with the really tight ones.

Dunno... just thought I'd increment my post count and push an unruly thread down the list.

No fee da tro.
