Tightening the hinge pins on my 45- realigning

I have searched the Balisong Forum and I have read Clay's tips several times. I have put the pins of my 45 into a vise (there is a section just below the "teeth" of the vise where it is smooth) and I tighten it down, I continue to [slowly] tighten the vise down on the pins until I cannot tighten it down any more, I have even left the balisong like that for several hours and nothing changes. I have used both a rubber mallet and a hammer to try to tap the pins back together but nothing, I even started to pound on the pins with the hammer and still nothing!?!! It is way out of alignment and I can't find a way to get it back to being tight, are there any other ways to straighten out the forks?? Thanks

It is a BM 45SHD: it is a 2nd

plus my 30S and my other 45 have been at BM for well over a month and I miss them terribly.

I'll try to get a picture of the alignment.

Being a 45SHD 2nd is a problem. I know BM doesn't want to see these 2nds come back to the factory for warranty work. Thats why they put the 2nd on them.

But I also know that BM will do work on their knives for a price. You might want to ask Travis and see if he'll give you an outright price. I would think it being a HD and a 2nd that it would be worth saving in decent condition as it should have a value to it.

Just my 2 cents anyway...

That's just it, the 45 that is at BM right now is a "2nd", I was flipping it when the tang pin broke in 2. I emailed BM and I told them that I would be more than happy to pay for it's repair but they said that the only charge would be the shipping and handling. I sent both my 30S and my 45 2nd to them on April 20th, they got it April 23rd and I haven't seem them yet

I don't want to send off my 45SHD to them without having my 30S and my other 45 back first. I email them at least once a week to check up on them but they usually say the same thing, that the "30S is taking longer than expected", I put a thread about these Bali-Songs up a while ago.

thanks for responding to me

BTTT

(I hope people don't start treating me as bad as they do RDT for me BTTTing, hey, that rhymes!!) If you don't know what I'm talking about check out the "For Sale/Trade Forum" and you'll see a thread addressed to RDT.

Anyone have any news about Blade Show??

Cameron, no complaints from me regarding the "BTTT" thing. I am pretty interested in this topic myself as my numbered 45 could use an adjustment.

Phillip: have you used the aforementioned techniques to try to tighten the pins and straighten out the forks in your handles?? (ie. bench vise or hammering straight down onto pin)

When you say your "numbered 45" do you mean 2nd production or preproduction?

Cameron, it's a pre production 45. I posted a scan of it some months ago. I have not tried the fixes you mentioned for fear of damaging the knife.
