What's the best way to tighten a folder that has a wobbly blade? Should you use a punch to tap on the pivot pin? I'm confused. It seems to me the blade is wobbling because the liner and bolsters are too far apart. So how does tapping on the pin help?

What kind of knife is it? A slip joint? Lockback?

I've tightened slippies by wrapping the bolster in a shop rag to protect it and then giving it a few taps with a hammer. Two taps then check it, repeat if needed.

If the pivot pin is exposed, the blade can be tightened by peening the pin with a very small hammer. A tack hammer is too large, but will do in a pinch. Back the other side of the pivot pin on an anvil of some sort. You want to slightly spread the head of the pin on each side. Use short light taps, or you will bend the pin.
