I have one in bamboo root. It's my main forest carry knife. This one is for a gift for a young trail steward:)
Mine is also bamboo root, I believe!

I've used mine so much, the handle has developed a little crack and the blade is nicked, but still my "go-to" blade for almost everything outdoors.

At 100 bucks, this one was a steal, and looks great to boot! Your young steward will be amazed at how it cuts.

She's already stoked from the pics.
But after I finish the wood and put a nice polished edge, it will be a killer!
Kumar does great heat treat, usually.
Did your trail steward like her new Tamang?

I snagged one from another sale and it just came yesterday, and I am super stoked! It's a real beauty!

She does. But I got a couple more blades since then, and I haven't let her have it yet. She might choose a different blade. Like the 14 inch sirupati from kumar I just bought....
The bamboo root tamang that I've been carrying for 6 years is my favorite HI blade, and I do have a "few." Perfect trail maintenance knife.

Bamboo root makes a fantastic handle. I have a couple of them. It's almost magical how a very smooth, hard handle can be very grippy at the same time. Almost like rubber. I'd love to know the physics behind that.

I'm tempted to look at one of those handles under a stereo zoom microscope (maybe 40x magnification), but I'm nervous about damaging the microscope with something that large, heavy and irregularly shaped.

Pacthar knife has horn handle not the wood, sorry for the mistake
