Tilley Hats: Are the hemp hats better?

I currently wear a big goofy looking Tilley T3 (Duck cotton in the gray color) hat when I'm hiking or fishing. I'm currently looking at the brown ("mocha") Tilley TH5 for a better looking hat that still works well. I like the idea of the hemp fabric and am fine with the heat of the cotton hat. Is the help fabric hotter? Any nice perks with a hemp hat? Anyone have one?

More natural materials than some of the others, but it's a Tilley, so it'll work great. I have an airflo for summer outdoor stuff and love it. Hemp is a very durable material, so it" ll last ages.

I have both the T6 and a mocha hemp TH5, and the mocha TH5 has been delegated to winter wear, in hot summer I find it gets to warm for me.

Well: couldn't wait any longer on a good deal... I just bought one.

Thanks for the reply.
How would you compare the heat level of the TH5 to the T6? I read a lot of review that touted hemp's ability to breathe better than the cotton Tilleys. Was this not the case for you? Heat aside, which material do you like more?

The T6 is very cool, it's lighter color and airflow vents make in great for hot westher. The TH5 doesn't have the vents and the darker color just seemed to make it soak up heat. The hemp is also noticeably heavier and thicker than the T6.

Heat aside, I actually prefer the look of the mocha TH5, over the T6.

Has your hemp hat faded at all? I noticed some people online say they fade from "Mocha" to a light brown color in a few months of use...

A little, but not much. It develops a nice worn look after a few washings, but it's still pretty much the same color.

Found a picture, this is my TH5 after about 2 years of daily wear, before I bought my T6.

Here is a picture of a Tilley hemp hat that faded. I can't decide if the fading looks good (patina) or not...

I like mine but I preferred the darker color that it came as. I am thinking about trying to dye mine.

Looks like it's from the WWII Japanese Tropical issue hat. Should work well with plenty of neck protection.

I can see the resemblance. From a side view the hat looks more simplistic than it actually is. It's inner construction is better than its outer appearance, once examined.
