It makes me feel almost guilty to be able to go into a local store (Identified in the 'Feedback' section!) and look over recent offerings, good and bad. Okay... just almost... not really! Really... it's fun! I did pick an unopenned 0561 two weeks back and brought it home - unchecked (It was perfect save the sharp jimping.)... after leaving some moola there, of course. In my visit today, I didn't even see the demo 0560 & 0561's - me and my big mouth. He still had 0550 & 0551's - and a Kershaw 4001SW Tilt - and a load of other interesting knives, too. The moral to this story? Tired of being on the hook for months awaiting a new super knife? Check your local stores for stock. Sure, if he has them, they won't be mail order or web prices - the local guy has a store to keep up - but keep him solvent - buy what you can locally. You never know what you'll find!

The Bad? Well, my local guy has a selection of, ah, whatyamacallem... MT's. Includes the Whale, Matrix, etc. They shouldn't compete with the ZT-0777... they are more expensive than the ZT, too.

Here's the store, in case any of you guys want to see it.

Oh, and sorry Stainz. I made this video and in short order ALL of their 30+ 056x knives were gone!

Thanks for the video CTS. They really, really need to work on their website.
I wish we had something like that here., great shop.

They even have the holy grail of para millies.. Let's just say, I was there awhile back.

CTS,

I saw your tour on another thread. You missed a few of the lower priced goodies we mere mortals enjoy (Bokers!). Randy said you were there Friday - maybe we'll run into each other there. I'll be friendly... even if I am an Auburn grad/fan! I'll probably have a knife or two, too!

That store is a mutitasking mecca for me and my wife. She found herself some goodies there today. They also feed my Surefire LED flashlight hunger - and, although not a great source for S&W revolvers, I have picked up a couple there over the years. The unreal aspect of the store is the cadre of friendly and helpful folks who they hire as help. It's a welcome change these days.

For the love of god... I would spend hours in there before I was able to make a decision.

Gladly! I wouldn't say no for a chance at Katy Perry because Russell Brand ran through it a few times...

Kinda the same thing here.

If you get my sloppy seconds then you're pretty much guaranteed a perfect knife. When the new stuff comes in I go to the store and hand pick the best specimens. Often times I do trade them back in for other things. If you get one that I've traded in then I say you're getting a perfect NIB knife! Haha :)

I've actually hand picked knives from that store for people all over the country. They let me know what they want, I go pick it, and Randy ships it. Good for everyone.

Thats really cool of you man! I might have to watch that video again and focus on what they got.

So you never use any of your knives?

I buy 3 or 4 of pretty much any knife I get. I use every single model of knife I get, but no I don't use the duplicates. The duplicates are what I trade in.

Other than the duplicates, I use every single knife I've ever bought. Life's too short.

THere's a store local to Kansas City that used to stock the new knives from the main high-quality companies (Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel). They had one Kershaw 3600 that sat in the display case for several months. As of last Friday, it was still up for sale @ $300. I have been drooling over that knife since I first saw it. They also had the SpyKer sitting there. That one disappeared sometime in the last 2 months. I think they still have a 0551. All their knives are at full retail, so the only time it's worth buying is when getting price-controlled items, like Chris Reeve, or William Henry, (They no longer restock these, so are running low) or when the demand overtakes the supply and retail ends up being cheaper.

I picked up the 3600 on Friday. Tax return is in. :D
