TiLT for a Bill The Butcher - should I do it?

I have a TiLT kicking around and a person has offered a Kingdom Armory Bill The Butcher for it. Is that a trade up? I had been considering just selling it, but would I get more for a BTB?

I would consider it a trade up - the tilt is what it is because of a conscious production limit choice by KAI. The KAs are the real deal. I'd be happier with the KA personally

I wouldn't. Most people don't talk about it, but it is known that KA's lock geometry is pretty....Interesting? Most have lock rock out of the gate, if not, they typically get it later on with use. Also most of his grinds are really thick behind the edge (if you care about that.)

Specifically in this case, I'm looking at sale value and not usability. The day I carry a $800+ knife is the day after I get a really, really, really good job.

Ah, then trade and sell. They (KA's) don't sell as fast or bring as much as they used to, although still more than a tilt.

That's the impression I was under, but I have seen maybe three BTBs for sale ANYWHERE. The prices were all over the place and I can't get a good estimate on them... $800 sold instantly, $1400 went down to $1000 before selling, and another sold instantly at $1200.

It's a tough call. I've been burned on literally EVERY custom I have traded for or purchased. Every. Single. One.

I can tell you right now that I would carry and use the BTB if I had it.
But then again, I may be all talk and if I had one, maybe my perception would change.
I can tell you I think it looks cooler than a TiLT.

In terms of selling, consider which knife is more commonly known by the general public and how it's perceived. Which one will you have the least investment in? Which one would you not mind holding onto if it did not bring what you are expecting?
Either one could be a grail for someone
Good luck with your struggle

If you go through with the trade you could probably sell it much easier on the USN. There seem to be way more fans of KA and customs in general on that forum.
