I've been trying to come up with a factitious name for a person to carry the factitious knife I just finished. Jim Bowie's brother Tim came to mind. Being younger and alot smaller than Jim this is the knife I can see him carrying. 5 1/2" 1084 blade, wrought iron and sambar stag make up the rest. 10 1/2" overall.

I'm confused -
"factitious" - developed by effort; not natural; forced; artificial.
"fictitious" - not real; imaginary. Having to do with fiction.
I guess the knife could be "factitious" and the name you want - "fictitious".
Which one do you mean?
 
That's quite a nice knife, Ray. I really like the shape and flow.

OR if you are meeting your on-the-side lady at a no-tell motel, you might want to register under a fuctitious name:eek:
 
I usually don't like really pointy looking tips, but that looks strong. The hamon works well with the shape of the blade too. :)
 
That is the prettiest, most well proportioned knife I have seen in a long time.
It just flows :D

Just out of curiosity do you sketch or plan your knives or do you just "free hand"

Tim, Most my knives start as vague ideas. There's no sketch or plan. Once I have the blade finished I'll trace the blade shape on paper and do a ruff drawing of what I think it will look like with handle/guard configuration. After that its all free hand and by eye.
