Mr Faust.. thank you! I think you have really cracked the code for these knives. I've printed your reply, went through my Imperial Frontiers and I think you are right on.

About the fixed blades... May I offer my theory on the second digit? Based on the knives that I own, I think it designates the pattern: 1= skinner; 2=smalldrop point; 3= larger drop point.

I do thank you for your trouble. Once again, I think these are fine knives and I feel fortunate to own some of them.

Hello all. I'm new here and very impressed with all the great information available here. Pleased to meet ya'll. As the Imperial Double Eagles of the 70s and 80s are favorites of mine, I was interested in the questions and answers about the numbering system used on those knives. I think the answer is absolutely correct, but I was wondering, as was Reggae, about his theory concerning the numbers on the fixed blades. I think he is correct. I've got to start including in my Double eagle collecting old brochures, catalogs, factory info enclosures, as I do with the other brands I collect. Thanks again for being here!
