As I am now in the finishing stages of Tim Hancock's book, I feel
a need to share with you some of the illustrations of his knives that
will be displayed in it.
Here is the first amazing one:
"The Original Cowboy Bowie", 1995
This is the largest Bowie Tim has made to date and it is the 140th knife he made.
The fittings are mild steel, inlaid with Sterling silver strips and twisted wire,
and it has a hand-tooled concho adorning the pommel.
The steel is blued with a heat patina. The sheath was Tim's first tip-and-
throat on a leather body. Tim also designed the accent on the throat and
then tooled, cut out and soldered it on.
This is what Tim says about his large Bowie: "I still remember forging this
blade, and how the knife balanced, as if poised ready for action in my
hand. This one just beckons you to take a swing at something. It is the
first one of only six knives where I incorporated both my bit and spur
motifs and my inlay styles. Three of these six knives are displayed here
in the book". Overall length 17 1/2" (444 mm), blade length 12" (305 mm).
All the best,
