Hello all, I hope you are well.
Tim Herman has always been one of the World's best, knifemaking, engraving, simply top drawer. Tim for many years, was a maker at the Art Knife Invitational, a very lofty position indeed.
Due to a number of personal problems that I will not go into, Tim has not been very active at his chosen vocation.

He and I have had numerous discussions which bore fruit. Tim has been perfecting his color use on Bolino engraving. Not much has been produced yet and Tim, like all true professionals, is still learning (probably attending the GRS Bulino class soon).

I was very excited to receive back today, my Ron Lake fixed blade with bark Ivory. I told Tim I like big Cats, here is his interpretation.

I hope that you will greet Tim back to the fold with open arms.
Enjoy
Dave

That color engraving is exquisite...I especially like the lynx.

Looking at the side with the tang stamp brings a question to mind: would it be preferable to have the engraving oriented to be looked at tip down, as the stamp is? Just curious:D

Peter

good point,I leave it to the artist to decide, glad that you like it.
Dave

Peter. Ii think if you did the engraving to go with tip down it would look upside down on the knife since most people view a knife holding it tip up or horizontal, but the lynx was so tall with the ear tufts I thought it looked best doing it tip up view to get the tallness of the lynx shown right. Also, most makers sign their knives on the blade to read horizontal and rarely sign the ricasso of the blade. That's just how Ron signs his spectacular knives.

And many thanks to Dave Ellis for letting me work on such and exquisite Lake knife.

Thank you all for the kind comments, Tim
