i'm not a huge spyderco fan and i'm fairly new to this forum..... i was just looking for some opinions.... i just recently scored a tim wegner c48gps combo edge..... i've always wanted one, even more so after they discontinued them..... his blade-tech knives are pretty nice also.....

my question to you spyderco folks, is this knife too much of a collector's knife to use on a daily..... i was just windering, i'll probably use it anyways.... cheers..... mtnfolk mike:cool:

The large Wegner in PE is starting to bring in the BIG bucks. I've seen them sell recently for around $200

The combo edge... not so much.
I'd use her too :)

I have a jr. Wegner SE and I edc it, One of my favorite knives. I bought it as a safe queen but like it so much I kept using it, now its in my everyday rotation

thanks guys.... i've always liked the design.... i will probably carry it on a daily..... along with my bark river mikro canadian........ cheers..... mtnfolk mike:)

The bigger C-48 is really high in numbers. Now the one I personally wouldn't carry would be the Wegner Jr. Last year at the BLADE show in Atlanta I was talking to Mr. Wegner himself and he told me that the sales of the Wegner junior C-49 was really low in numbers compared to the C-48. If you like the Wegner design you really ought to take a look at the Ocelot. They would be a lot easier to replace than one of the older Wegner models.

Also if you just absolutely love that C-48 design you could get the BLADE-Tech Extreme hunter with Carbon Fiber and S30V blade steel. I had one of them and traded it and now I really miss it terribly. It was a lot more of a knife than the C-48. Wasn't cheap though:o
