I have had this knife for a number of years and it has always been one of my favorite patterns. I'm trying to figure out if it is a full custom, mid tech or something else. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Knife.jpg Knife 2.jpg

One of the very first premium folders I ever owned was a Boguszewski Spike model made by Benchmade. It's still one of my all time favorite designs for all purpose EDC usage. For years I was hoping that Spyderco and Phil Boguszewski would team up for a collaboration but unfortunately it never happened. Now that Mr. Boguszewski is deceased I've noticed that many of his custom models and the older Benchmade models with his name on them have went up in price big time. This is the first I ever knew of him and Tim Wegner being in cahoots with each other.

I believe it is "Arizona Custom Knives" that sells a lot of Phil Boguszewski's custom models that are still on the secondary markets. Needless to say they fetch a very high price in most cases. In the past 10 years or so we've seen a lot of great knife designers pass away unfortunately. Also the C-48 & C-49 Wegner models that Spyderco did are considered classics.

Tim Wegner designed a model that he came to Spyderco with in holes that we'd make it for him. The design above built by Phil was the model. We made the model and built a large quantity of this model and a smaller model. We also planned to make a 3rd model that Tim designed ( Ocelot ). Tim and Spyderco had a falling out and once we had completed our obligation, we stopped making them.

YUP, thats a full custom Pro Hunter made by Phil and designed by Tim Wegner.
I have two of them.
I LOVE this design by Tim, throughout its run, whether done by Spyderco, the later ones made by his company Blade-Tech, or the original customs.
Dont have a pic of the customs on photobucket yet, but here's a recent pic of the rest of the Wegner Pro Hunter collection that's just for display:

I also have two more Blade-tech made Pro Hunters, and another large Spyderco version (C48) in my EDC collection.
