Does anybody out there have (or "used") a Tim Zowada?

I just sold my H&K Tactical and have a little money to play around with after paying some bills...

Let me know what you think of it!

I would be interested to hear anyone's comments on this knife also. Like the JD Smith, I've only seen pictures so far and haven't actually held one yet.

I guess I'll be answering my own question shortly...I gave in to curiosity and ordered one.

Also, would anybody have an idea on how many Zowadas were/are produced? When I ordered mine he told me the serial number was fairly low (in the mid 200's).

I'll post my impressions on the knife when it arrives.

I broke down and bought one too. Hopefully I'll get it near the middle of the week. I'll give a review after I live with it for awhile.

Anyone else out there had one for awhile? What serial #'s are out there? This knife looks really nice.

The Zowada's a beauty. Slick.
The Smith is also a handsome knife marred only by a really stiff action - no big deal, the usual use will free it up.

hi stealth,

Okay, just got my Zowada.

First impressions, very slick as mentioned above, very balanced... and also very sharp out of the box. I love the little yellow spider on the clip as well, as it stands out a bit (if you don't mind that sort of thing).

Only time will tell how it holds up. I do like the odds.

Oh, and Jon...I don't have any of Shunryu's writings, just different Philosophy and Zen collections. Anything specific you would recommend or should I get my hands on anything I could?

Goodnight, all!

hi again,
if you're interested I would chck out, "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" It's one place where your quote is (regarding control)as well as mine. it's published by Weatherhill, and a fairly short book and inexpensive (about $8). Hope this helps, take care,

jon

Stealth Rhino -

If you're feeling heady, try anything by D.T Suzuki. You'll wind up reading it all, so you might as well get started.

For modern American Zen, I like John Loori and Robert Aitken.

For traditional, a book of Koans, like the Blue Cliff Record or The Gateless Gate/Barrier is always fun, and you should make a point of reading the Lotus, Diamond, and Heart Sutras. Start with the Lotus. Everything starts with the Lotus.
