I have both and believe that they are from Buck. I doubt many aftermarket guys have to ability to do that lazer etching...but then I don't know for sure.

I don't know. However, I do know that there are folks on slee-bay who are selling things that they claim are factory which aren't.

ie- the recluse and widow spider knives. Pretty high level of work to those also. Still angry about that since they are straight up lying on their listing:mad:

Did you happen to get them off of slee-bay? If so, from a dealer or an individual? If it's digi-freaks or the other one I can't forget then I think they are after markets.

Not Buck LE's...hummh, well the lazer etching is outstanding and I got both of mine for just a few more dollars than I'd have paid for a std 110. Its all good for me. The serialization stamp on the bolster is unusual come to think of it.

Any idea who did the mods on the inlay?

Perhaps Joe or CJ will chime in on this one?

Same here Flatlander. $42 each (new with leather sheaths in the box) and that included shipping. I really don't care who did the work, it looks great to me.

They are not done by Buck, I asked the Ebay sellers that seem to have them all the time and they all told me they are done aftermarket for them by someone.

Thanks for clearing that up for us Chris.

Both mind were under $44 as well. Niffty handles as far as I'm concerned.

As a "Newby" I bought 3 of them a couple of years ago not realizing they were not factory knives. :o

They will probably never see use so the warranty will not be a factor.
The low serial numbers might make them collectable.
And yes I like looking at and showing them as I do with all my Buck Knives :D

Even though they are not, I admit, the Rattler and Basketweave ones, look great and I have bid on a few of them and lost, but can't swear I wouldn't get one eventually. :D

If you like them and you get them at a fair price, great!

I'm just mad at the sellers for not being honest about them.

Yeah, I agree, that's why I like to ask them questions first. If they fib to me about stuff, then I wont buy from them. 2 of the main sellers of those wild colored rehandled 110's, still list them on Ebay as having a full factory warranty from Buck. :thumbdn::mad:

Pl;umberdv,

I fell victim to these "limited edition" 110's myself when I first started buying 110s from slee-bay. They are indeed re-scaled after leaving Buck and the warranty is void but like you, I will probably never use them so no big deal.
What irritates me most is the bs about the serial number ie number whatever out of 500 or something....its pure bull. The particular pair that you bought have been selling on Ebay for atleast the past two years. I hate to admit what I paid for mine so I wont but lets just say, more than they are really worth. I have since upgraded my standards for what I will buy and it does not include these. I have seen the Michael Prater knives but not purchased any but have been told he does good work. I have also bought quite a few Yellowhorse 110's which I really like but they are pricey for sure.

That's funny, I don't feel like a victim at all. The seller I bought them from said nothing at all about Limited edition or numbers. I happen to like them and would have bought them regardless. They are attractive, different from any others I own and they come with a leather sheath. I could have driven 2 miles to Walmart and bought a regular 110 there and walked out for about $30 each (in Ca.) but then I would have spent another $10 or so to replace the fabric sheath:barf: (which I've done) and spent about the same money.

There have been a couple of members recently posting pictures (Redrunnd & Flatlander) of 110's and 112's that they have rescaled. I'm sure that those knives are no longer covered by the warranty either, but I'd buy one in a heart beat.
